I admit that the 9.3 hatch is a dated look and the extra noise that seems to come from a glass door that big is irritating. But in addition to the the versatility, I actually like the unique look and "European" style. If you've spent any time in Europe you realize that they aren't ashamed of hatchbacks there like they are here (note: the 01 Honda Civic does not include a hatchback in the US for the 1st time ever). So sometimes I have to imagine myself driving there. Also, I love the unique look even if its aged bacause it reminds me of my younger more simple days in Boulder, Co. where there is a SAAB on every block (at least that was the case in the early 80s). SO to me the current 9.3 evokes some of that look. THe next 9.3 looks very generic (mini 9.5) and even though it might be a cleaner design on paper, you might as well go with a more refined car make if that's your thing. SO they better kep the hatch alive and well or SAAB will lose its fan base. JH
