As bob said, there were a lot of us that picked up fire sale Viggens at the end of '99 and '00. I have no idea about this year - bob could very well be right about the prices staying high. I have heard that Saab isn't offering as high of an incentive for the Viggen compared to the other 9-3's. A typical deal, however, for any Saab is invoice less all rebates, incentives, etc., plus anywhere from $0-$1000 profit. Many pay more, but a good negotiator can get this price. Do your research on Edmunds.com to find out current incentives, and work from there. Try a search on this board to find out some current prices.
Word of caution: drive the car more than once, and drive it on the roads you will be driving daily, as some people complain about the steering. This seems to be an issue with the roads you drive on, your experience, and your tolerance for a "lively" steering wheel. Many love the experience, but there are some who do not. It's a personality thing, for the most part. One thing for sure, get the dealer to give free installation on the Viggen Rescue Kit from Abbott as part of the deal. This is a must for any Viggen. The parts will run you roughly $800, but the car is completely transformed.
Also, keep in mind that there will be an all new 9-3 coming at the end of next year. It will probably be a better car all around. If you're the type that suffers from buyer's remorse, you'll want to consider this.
BTW, the Viggen is one the most fun cars I've ever driven. Just driving it will change your attitude about cars - my wife, who has never had any interest in cars before, was actually excited to watch F1 qualifying last night!
