I havent read the article but there are a few things to remember here...
RE:The stereo controls confused them with its plethora of buttons and the menu driven options just to change from FM to AM, for example.
But C&D, I do recall, loved the new BMW 7 which has umpteen different operations necessary to turn on the A/C!
I think the motoring press in North America - which is pretty lame anyway - seem to think that if it aint Japanese (or a BMW) its no good. I think Japanese cars have to be the most boring things to look at yet they get rave reviews for one reason only, they are cheap! If it has 250bhp and costs $25 grand you have your winner even if it does look like a pig - take any Hond-ura, Lex-ota as an example. A prime example of how crap the motoring press is here in N America is Motor Trend COTY2003 issue, they have three sentences regarding the 03 9-3! I mean, come off it, is that how you run a COTY bumper issue, I dont even think they drove the damn thing!!!!! They mentioned the cheap plastics and said there was turbolag and that was it!! A total waste of CAD$5.99 plus tax!! It seemed they were only interested in the "winner" which was, quelle surprise a Japanese car. I mean seriously, an Infin-issan beating a Merc SL for f@&k sake are they stupid!!! But the real big joke was is they has a Lincoln TownCar up for the award, I almost pissed laughing!
Moral to the story........
Dont believe everything you read, I drove a new 9-3 two weekends back and does that baby ever handle!!! Saab has to get people driving these cars coz that is what will win them over, the car may be conservative on the outside but its pure Saab underneath!!!
