Update, anew. karl, thanks...
As for the deposit...we thought it was a BS ploy...and didn't fall for it. What if the black car arrived, and it had an extra that we didn't want or the color was wrong for us...we could reject the car, but we would still need to buy it from a dealer we didn't trust.
As for our experiences at the two local dealers...Int. in FC was less than impressive. My girlfriend, who is buying, didn't get treated very well, even though we made it clear that she was in charge. (they kept asking me if I had questions etc.) At VOB, they were better, but the salesman, Ted, seems to have a problem returning calls or calling when he says he will...not a very smart business model.
We think the solution might be this: order the car from Fitzgerald Auto Mall. They will get the color she wants (Dolphin gray) and all the options, allow us to lock in the $2500 (or is it $3000 this month) factory to dealer incentive, and take delivery. All plusses...a negative fitzmall is out in frederick, about an hour from DC...
Karl, et al, what do you think?
