One the Vovlo PRV V6, there were two intakes and two throttle plates. There was a common throttle shaft, and that did not need to be sync'd. Each TB had a idle flow adjustment 'vavle'.
Dealers would hook up O2 sensors to each exhaust header and do idle flow sync that way. I fould that I could expose the two TBs easily and cleaning restored idle as you suggested.
And I showed the Volvo shop how to put a vinyl tube across the two PCV orifice fittings with some water in it, and the idle flow could be syncronized with that differential manometer. The also showed the district rep that they did not need that very expensive gas analysis sytem and that they had used both and determined that manometer achieved the same result.
The brass & copper soldered rad core was not happy with the aluminum block. 'Stone' deposits grew on the solder and restricted flow. I guess teh antifreeze of the day was not sufficient for all of that alloy.
