Yank on the cable. Make sure it's clipped into the proper spot.
Did you do the clutch? If not take it back to whoever did
Check the little black "condom" the shifter rod goes into. I have seen them messed up. It's behind the trans in the engine compartment.
How was the linkage disconnected when the trans was removed? With the 13mm bolt at the tranny, or did someone disconnect the linkage somewhere else and leave it loose?
Like Anders said, without feeling it, it could be anything!
Should be something stupid. A clutch is a clutch, no brainer if you know the tricks-
