It's been fixed for about a week now. The clutch cable stretched, and just needed some tightening. I bolted it down, and it's been good since.
It was a pretty irritating and problematic issue. The car stalled in traffic, it was tough to find any gear, and downright dangerous at times trying to get up to speed on the highway or just moving down the road. Plus people just aren't real patient anyway these days, even more so when they got anywhere near me so getting honked at, flipped off and thrown constant obscenities while I struggled to go was pretty tough to take.
I've been grannying the car, and just taking it easy and checking it to make sure it stays tight. The new clutch that preceded this whole mess was an expensive and frustrating PITA. I would have tackled it myself but these days I don't have the luxury of my mom's large carriage house to work on it. I've done my share of wrenching on VWs and Volvos, but this is my first Saab and I'm still working my head around how everything works. But yeah, long story short, I'll keep checking it and making sure it's good to go every time, I need this car for school and work. Thanks again everybody for the help, suggestions, and ideas. Much appreciated. And good luck Ron, hope things go well for you. I'll keep you updated on how things go with my car.
~Joe
