I personally have this issue with my car. As a matter of fact, I've discussed this before. I bought the bearing, but have not installed it yet.
Regardless, the problem developed with the previous owner, who is a close friend. He replaced tires, replaced rotors, then had them turned about 10,000 miles later, then he replaced the wheels, and did 2 (maybe even 3) alignments. When I got the car, the problem was still fairly mild, and I replaced the tie rod inner bushings, the outer tie rod ends, the control arm bushings, put on a steering rack brace, put on new tires, and did another alignment. Every single thing that was done provided some temporary improvement or eliminated the problem for a few hundred miles, and over time the shake has gotten much worse. However, the car only shakes between 62-70 and above 85, but is most prominent around 65; it's non-existent under 60 and goes away between 70-85. Also, the front end shakes HORRIBLY when braking above 60, and is much worse the faster I'm going when I hit the brakes. The funny thing about it is that just before another member discussed his same problem being resolved by replacing the bearing, I started to notice a slight shimmy from the right side under moderately heavy acceleration (half throttle-ish) only when I was in second gear. At this point I finally realized I was obviously throwing money at this problem and I must have a problem with my drive axle; although I was thinking maybe I had a failing inner CV joint at that time.
You'll get guys all over this board telling you that the wheels need to be balanced on that certain Hunter machine, and I'm sure an extremely accurate balance and alignment will help minimize or eliminate the shake. However, in my opinion, that is only a band-aid on a wound that needs more attention. Fix the problem, not the symptom.
