The first part number, I believe, is a Febi part for the lower control arm (which houses the integral ball joint - to replace the joint, you have to replace the whole arm).

The second number is the Moog part number for the same part.

So it appears he installed a Febi arm last year, and Moog this year. Did he rip you off? hard to say - did you ask him for the old part back?

It's not unknown for ball joints to fail that quick (do a search and you will see others complain of joints failing very quickly), but it should be a rarer occurence.

Is there a lot of pot-holes in your area?
