Replacing with new calipers....any special steps? Posted by bender [Email] (#268) [Profile/Gallery] (more from bender) on Sat, 13 Mar 2010 13:04:46 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I will be installing sometime in the near future 9-5 calipers on my 9-3 with the upgraded 300mm rear rotors. Along with the calipers, I'm getting his (Nick at genuinesaab) special brake line ( you can see picture of what I am doing in the link below). I've never installed new calipers, so I have some questions. I need to bleed the brakes, but is there anything special to do? I assume there will be air in and around the piston area of the caliper...how to get it all out? When I remove the old brake line, will brake fluid start coming out? When removing the old brake calipers, the 9-3 ones, can they come out with the brake pads or must I remove the pins first?
I plan to store the old calipers in a box, so it would be nice to somehow remove the old brake fluid from inside. I suppose they'd have to be disassembled to do that?
Thanks for your help in answering any one of these questions. Bender.
