I used to use anti-seize but have changed to brake-grease. No special reason, except I bought a bottle of brake-grease. I figured it's made for that, so maybe it works better. It seems to work better, but really not that much difference. Can't remember if it was AutoZone or AdvanceAutoParts but it was someplace like that.
I do keep an eye on the brakes, since I rotate tires myself whenever I change oil. Since the brakes are right there in my face, I always make a point to look at them. I tyically dismantle & clean that stuff when the pads are about 1/2-worn-out.
On the 2001 9.3, I should have taken the rear pads out more often, because they were usually getting rusty when I did them. They aren't as easy to see without pushing the pins & removing the pads. Ashamed to say, but a couple times (during 100k miles) it was downright difficult to pull the pads out of the caliper.
