If the brakes are new, the pad retaining spring could be off or installed wrong. If it is, you'll get a banging noise. Been there, done that. Or maybe the caliper isn't bolted down tight. Or a wheel is loose.

As for the serp belt, hopefully you got a new pulley or two, or found out WHY the belt shredded. Shredding means a pulley stopped turning, so you need to know which one. Hopefully it's the tensioner or the idler, as they are the least expensive to replace.

If you can get to an AutoZone you can have the code read for free. Some CEL codes go away on their own. Maybe you'll be lucky. Airbag light may need a Tech 2 reset. Not sure on your car.

Camshaft position sensor means the DI is getting old. I have one in my daughter's '99 SE that periodically throws that code too. It comes and goes. Be prepared to buy a DI sometime in the near future, though. Then the present one can be a spare.

A torn boot means you need a new boot. Have the CV joint cleaned and repacked with grease at the same time. Don't drive a huge distance with a torn boot (350 miles to home may be OK (or not), but get this fixed soon. Is the CV joint clattering/rattling when you turn a tight corner? Popping could also have something to do with the CV joint. I haven't had that failure but others have.

As for $$$. When you get a used car, you have to expect to spend some money to get it right. Sounds like the timing on this stinks for you, but so it goes. It should all work out OK, but there'll be some pain. Hang in there. And we're here to help.

And my last thought--- with any used car, AAA Plus 100 mile towing is a must-have.
