I've got a 2001 base model 9-3 with 167,000 miles and very few problems.
The early versions of the DI Cassettes would fail catastrophically and leave you stranded. They had a recall and created an improved version around 2005 that more often shows a check engine light long before it leaves you stranded. Keeping a known good one or a new one in the car is a good stategy followed by many owners. It's a 5 minute job to change it. I'm on my 3rd, the first one failed catastrophically but I had the spare with me. The second threw the check engine light and I use it as a spare.
I'm still on my original turbo, clutch, alternator, wheel bearings and just about everything else. I did the brakes at 110,000 and still had some pad remaining. I did a pre-emptive water pump replacement and the replaced the fuel pump when I needed to replace a puntured gas tank.
SID displays need to be repaired if they are original. BBS in Taunton Massachusets gives a lifetime warranty and my experience is they come back better than new for under $100.
The exhaust flex pipe and radio speakers are the only other things I remember replacing. I did the PCV update at 90,000. My miles have been about 80% highway which may account for my good luck with the car.
