<Why does the shop initially tell me leaking oil ruined the turbo charger, but now tells me the turbo charger will be okay as long as I keep oil in the car>
You know the answer to this question. They have to come up with some kind of cover story from their initial turbo repair since it came back biting them in the behind and then take your money for a head gasket replacement and then come up with a new cover story since that job also came back biting them.
That's the scary part when you try to "wing" a repair and guess wrong.
After awhile you run out of cover stories and you just have to give up and say it's ok.
I can't promise that it is ok to drive the car any more than that you were driving the car before all these repairs started. If the situation is better or worse at this point after all repairs, it's not possible to say.
If you are dealing with a cracked piston but not as bad as this one, who knows how long it will last.
You would have to get a second opinion by someone that knows what to look for.
