I wanted to follow up. I had slowly been putting this motor together after buying the car after a prior owner bounced the valves off the cylinders. It seems I stored the new head in such a way that the hydraulic lifters lost oil. Even after priming, without spark plugs or fuel, I might have bent the valves in the new head. It seems the valves on both #2 & #4 cylinders are stuck partially open. I thought I was rather meticulous during assembly but there were times over the 2+ years leading up to install that the head was stored upside down or on its end. I have since read that the head should always be stored top side up. I think I'm staring down a new tear-down & valve job. Has anyone ever heard of such a thing? Thanks for reading/responding.
