Dork maybe, engineer definitely. I think that this thread has shown that I am not alone in my frustration with my wife’s Saab’s idiosyncrasies. I actually drive a Tacoma (definitely no problems there). I just think that it's not unreasonable to think that "normal maintenance" items should be accessible and relatively easy to replace. This without pulling on this, and bending that... Again the purpose of this thread was really to see if I was alone in my experience with the Saab dealer (rip-off artist) and with these annoying design quirks. By the way when you get out in the "real world" of engineering (Christian) you will find that "real" problems do not have answers in the back of the book.
To everyone who has a Saab and enjoys it, I think that’s great. But think of how much more enjoyable Saab ownership could be without dealers that gouge on service, and just maybe a fog light that could be accessed by someone other than Plastic man. I guess it’s a good thing that my wife loves her car. But enough “whining”, I think that a lot of other people may not receiving the advice they need because of this thread. Thanks for everyone’s input.
