Maybe I was misunderstood. You must buff all the wax off the car first. But, waxes based on carnuba will require a cure time. This can be proven by moving your finger or towel across a just waxed & buffed car. The wax will appear to smear -- it just needs to cure aittle while & then can be buffed again to a clear smearproof coat.
Mind you all the visible wax (glaze) is removed prior to moving the car in the sun for a short time. -- Sounds to me like we both wax our cars the same way, except I follow up "your" (or my) wax job with an hour of sun, return to shade, allow to cool & buff once again with a detailer.
I use Blitz wax & build up multiple coats. Pure wax without any cleaning properties. My car is black.
