You *CAN* remove the oil plug and drain it if your car isn't too low (the SE is lower than the regular S and if you have aftermarket springs like I do then the car is REALLY low and you gotta jack it up).
The most important thing is NEVER, and I mean NEVER get under a car that is supported by a jack (especially the wimpy spare tire jack). A local guy was killed just last week and it's an awful way to die.
If you're gonna do any serious work, buy a good pair of ramps or better yet jackstands. They cost like $20 and they make life sooo much easier (not to mention safer). If you don't jack up the car to do an oil change you need a really shallow drain pan. Plus you have no room to turn the drain plug.
In brief, buy jackstands.
