My mistake, the clay comes with instant detailer (not a spray wax). Yes it is slick, but it makes the claying process slow and I am not sure the detailer is really necessary. I rewash the car after claying so any detailer comes off anyway. A good supply of water seemed to do the job as well if not better than the detailer.
Does using the detailer serve any purpose other than lubrication? Is water alone inadequate lubrication?
