That F-U-G-L-Y brake dust... Posted by Larry West [Email] (#1140) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Larry West) on Mon, 22 Mar 2010 10:02:47 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Bought a 99 9-5 LPT sedan last summer with the original 3-spoke wheels. Only problem with them is the bad case of caked-on, baked-on brake dust that the PO never took care of. I tried a couple different products last summer, but nothing seemed to take more than a little off. So, I'm wondering if there's a consensus of what works well to clean the wheels and bring them back close to new.
Basically it's caked & baked in the crevice below the bead, and on the inside of the wheel surface behind the wheel disc.
What kinds of cleaners, brushes, cloths, etc. have the group had success with?
Last year, I tried Zymöl, Griot's wheel cleaner, and something else I can't recall... They each took off a little, but nothing took it all off.
Thanks!
