being a few sandwiches short of a picnic, is not one to pay much attention to his neighbors.
He was a roofing contractor (before he retired) and parked his very crusty work truck in his driveway. He lived in a nice but tightly packed suburban development near Boston, and the neighbors complained. Then they found a law that said he could not park a commercial vehicle in plain view--it had to be in a garage. So Tommy, instead, of building a garage at the back of his property (he had the room) put the garage at the front where it really stuck out, and painted it (and his house) a rather shocking yellow.
He toned the paint down a few years later, but the garage continues to be a neighborhood centerpiece. No word on what the neighbors think.
