Thanks so far everyone.
Wife and I together were just pre-approved for $600K. Wow! Not that we are even considering spending close to that amount. Both of our credit scores were very close to 800.
Anyway, another problem I'm having is....I own my family home in Virginia. Didn't buy it, it was passed on to me for a bunch of reasons. My Mom lives there now. But, a few years ago, I thought I was going to be a pilot as a career....I took a home equity line on that house. Now, I was hoping to be able to roll that loan into the loan for the house my wife and I eventually buy but my loan company told me there was no way to do that since they are 2 seperate properties.
Makes sense but....is there a way around this to get that done? My thinking was that we would actually end up saving money by buying vs. renting but if there is no way around this predicament then it may be a wash....but at least I'll be buying.
Any ideas?
