What really frosts me is that I have to take shoes off.

I fly once every week or 2, on average. I've been to Japan twice this summer, and back east a few times. I'll be going to Texas this Sunday.

The USA airports all make you take your shoes off. What on earth could be in my smelly shoe that they wouldn't catch in the metal detector? And if the detector wouldn't get it, why not just tape it to my body? It's highly annoying. ONE time this year they let me go through with shoes on after I insisted they wouldn't beep. They didn't beep, and they let me go on my merry way. Now they all say that if I don't take them off, they'll have to do a manual scan. Did some creepy foot fetishist make this rule?

Oh, I just brought a lighter back from Japan. I broke the latest lame law, I guess.

BTW, They use metal knives in Northwest International "World Business Class". They're tiny, they're not really sharp, but they're metal.
