I recall that you wore out two sets of something, that was tires not springs! I am still suprised that your springs wore out at ~40K miles, they are not like the leaf springs of yesteryear.
If you are consistanly carrying a load of stuff in the rear of your car, you do need a better solution than replacement of the stock parts. I would take Nick Taliaferro's advice on load leveling parts, he seems to really know his stuff and has been very helpful on some issues with my 9000. Perhaps you could get your dealer to make a compromise on labor while (instead of) installing your replacement springs? I have to think that labor and allignment is a big part of the total cost, and they are getting paid by the factory to replace springs anyway, so.... Maybe not, as they would still be liable for future failures, although the SAAB accessories must come with some warranty?
