Classic 900's are just too old to be serious daily drivers, although that logic doesn't stop some folks. Keeping an older car on the road is a hobby all in itself.
A '97 is already 9 years old, but pretty much the contemporary NG900/OG9-3 that was produced through 2003 in vert form.
The playing field is more lever for sticks, but for automatics, the NG900 4-speed Aisin Warner with sport setting blows the classic 900 out of the water, no contest. A '97 900 SE turbo is also much better performing than any classic 900. A non turbo 900S is about as powerful as a classic 900 turbo, but has a far superior automatic tranny.
