and I just went through it myself. I was driving my 93TC Convertible but wanted to keep it out of the snow, salt and daily grind. I ended up with a '98 900SE 5spd with 118K that I really love. It just does everything better than the classic 900--smoother, quieter, faster etc. But the difference is that I only drive 12 miles each way. I'm going to have to cast my vote for the Classic 900 because they are much simpler to work on(and therefore cheaper), but more importantly you have a lot of invaluable experience owning and working on the breed. You know what goes wrong and when, you know the simptoms and you know how to fix it and fix it cheap. That alone makes a good case for another. And besides it does my heart good to see classic 900's still beinmg used like that
