Like most things it's good news/ bad news. I have used a Treo (same idea different flavor) for about three years now. Having the PDA built in is massively important - carrying two boxes around just doesn't work. The info or phone number you need is always on the other one.
Borrow a live model for an hour or so and make and receive some calls. Sometimes a subtle change in the way things work makes a big difference when time is compressed. e.g. the Treo 600 has much better default-button arrangement. It just flows better than the 650.
The HTC 8525 has WiFi which will make your life esier if you're around a hot spot. The problem lies when you are not and have to use the Cingular Edge protocol. It's a lot slower than you're used to and after the novelty wears off I bet you'll use it very little. Also, Cingular charges A LOT for the data transmission. On trips where I gotta use it, that month's bill will be 2X usual.
Most smart phones can handle two phone numbers so you send the biz calls to voice mail when you just don't wanna talk to somebody about cars
