I do e-ticket all the time too and realize payer and passenger can be different. But that doesn't allow the passenger to travel anonymously. Let's say someone stole my credit car info. Successfully purchased plane ticket and traveled with it. He would have to done it with a complete set of false identification to avoid detection from the long arm of law enforcement.
The question is can you commit a crime without leaving a trace?
It is not impossible perhaps among people in the spying business with government agencies to have a false set of identity. But in this post 9/11 era, if this happens on a regular basis, we might as well dismantle the airport security and the TSA. Because ther are a farce if one can do that regularly.
