I've not been able to bring myself to part with the Viscount, it sits on the side of my house. I never replaced the original one piece fork even though it was recalled as it was prone to breaking. I'm not sure what level of components one would need to buy today to match the longevity of the Shimano Tiltelist components on the bike. I used to routinely ride the Viscount with it's 10 speeds up mountain passes in Colorado, easily keeping up or passing folks with their fancier rigs. Yes I have to agree with your comparison to Saab, at least the older Saabs, my 1986 9000 racked up 225K miles with things like starter, turbo, alternator, fuel pump and injectors all original . Can't say the same for my 2 9-5s - quality of the later Saabs has definately slipped, much of the issues I experienced being around trying to extend the life of the I4 past it's prime.
