We probably get more coverage of the US Auto Industry than any where else in the country!
Latest as I understand it is:
Saturn Distribution has been sold to Roger Penske. GM will continue to build the Aura, Vue, and Outlook for Saturn until those vehicle platforms are eliminated or redisigned. I believe the Sky is already dead, the future may be cloudy for the Outllok too as GM is moving the Chevy Traverse productin from Spring Hill TN to Lansing MI. The Outlook may be scraficed to make room for the Traverse in the Lansing plant. Penske is free to shop the world for other vehicles to sell thru Saturn dealerships.
Holden has never been mentioned, other than the source of the Pontiac G8. apparently they are immune from all the other global automotive turmoil.
Opel is rapidly becomming a basket case. GM signed a letter of intent with Magna Industries of Canada. Magna is a major automotive supplier but has a Russian silent partner who wants access to GM's/Opel's intellectual property for the benefit of the Russian automotive industry, and as a result it sounds as if GM is balking at the sale. The Chinese are highly interested in Opel, albeit with the same problems as having a Russian buyer. A Belgian investment group, partnered with a US investment group, has rejoined the discussion and may be the White Knight for Opel. Fiat is still hanging in the shadows and there may be others too. One of the Asian manufacturers without an European presence may yet come to the forefront.
