Back when the turbo worked on my '91 9kt (new one sitting in the box, waiting for installation), I was on my way to Lambeau field with my son, then about 10 years old. I had won season tickets to Packers' home games (!), and we are on our way to the opening game. Divided highway with concrete divider, tall fence on either side to keep out the wildlife, and not a soul in sight, so I decided to open it up a bit. After a couple of minutes, I could see that I was approaching a more open area of road, so I started to slow down, when I saw the unmarked car on the side of the road. As I passed him, now down to about 55, he motioned me to pull over. I was informed that I was clocked at 100 mph, and if he wrote me up for that speed, he would have to impound my car. He asked where we were going, then looked in the back seat and saw my son, then wrote me up for 95, which would not require an impound. As I sat there, I saw two other Sheriff's cars working that stretch of highway. They knew it was game day, which meant an influx of money into their county, which sits midway between Madison and Green Bay. All told, that cost me something like $800, plus lawyer's fees. They were threatening to suspend my license for two weeks but converted that to an additional $400 fine after negotiating. We got to the game and took our seats just as the jet fly-over went by. That was my last ticket, about 7 yrs ago.
