agree on the difference of many asian cars on the highway... usually not much low end torque in the engines - they make up for that around the city (ie for the test drive that sells the car) by using short gearing... I don't like that... but the new crop of hyundai/kias with turbos might be different.
I saw the veloster + it is a decent shape on the exterior. interior doesn't do much for me... but they have definitely been inspired by Saab (eg 9X or whatever?), and it's not the first time (og Sonata/og9-5, an older elantra?/og9-3, turbos, etc)! the problem for me is that under the veneer they lack on the things that matter most to me about saab (partly due to a differece in engineering cultures), so I don't buy into the hyundai thing... but maybe they will eventually get close enough... who knows... that will take time if it happens (though it has to some extent - just not enough for me)...
