Why anyone would buy a small econobox sedan and not a hatch makes no sense to me. But still, it should have folding rear seats.
All the Versa is is functional. The ride is actually OK at legal speeds on good roads. Initial braking was good, but I'm not sure a hard stop or a long downhill would feel all that great. And I wouldn't want to take one down a frost-heaved windy road with a few off-camber turns, especially in bad weather.
There was a 40 mph wind the day we had the car and it made the car very twitchy at freeway speeds. Without the wind the car felt OK at 75-80, but I think it would come unstuck pretty fast if an emergency maneuver were required. The CVT tranny was awful, but I've never driven one that I like. It felt like a golf cart and the engine always seemed to be working harder than it needed to, especially on hills.
Interestingly, Monday's USA Today had an article comparing 7 bottom feeder cars and the Versa came in dead last. The Fit won.
