When I bought my house the previous owners left me their lawn mower and gas jug (3 or 5 gal. I can't remember). I couldn't figure out for the life of me how to work it. It does have that twist/push mechanism but it tends to bind up and not work so well.
However, I picked up a 1 gallon jerry jug from the local Shell station to mix two-stroke fuel in. It has a similar twist/push nozzle but it works MUCH smoother and is very easy to figure out. It also fills my snow blower in about three seconds. The Purpose of having to push it against the gas tank rim is so that the nozzle falls at a certain level within the tank so that when the gas in the tank gets up to the nozzle, the gas STOPS pouring from the can. No overflows! I'm going to look to replace my larger regular gas jug with one that has an easier nozzle mechanism.
