Thanks much! My knowledge of electronics is limited to common, practical things and then I hit a brick wall. The author of the suggestion said he used a 60ohm resistor, but I don't know enough about what I'm trying to accomplish electrically to have any idea what sort of resistor to use. What would be the side effect of using too high or too low a resistor?
I have looked in the head unit's specs and the only specs it mentions in the amp section are:
Load Impedance 4 ohms (4 - 8 ohms allowable)
Line Output Impedance 1 kohms
Subwoofer Output Level 5.0V
FWIW, the Scosche wiring harness adapter includes 1.9kohm voltage dividers, but the Metra harness (the one I used) does not. My head unit has settable voltage on the preouts (2v, 2.5v, and 5v, IIRC) and I've tried all three settings with no difference in performance. I think the amp is handling the voltage without an issue.
