See the link for BTU's per unit of fuel and costs. The website costs may be stale.
There is a higher and lower heating value. The higher includes the heat when the water vapor product of combustion is condenses and cooled to ambient. That is not achievable. Condensation will rot most metallic flues. The sulphur in fuels leads to sulphuric acid. Natural gas condensing furnaces are the exception. Oil furnace exhaust temperatures are quite high, lost energy...
When you let the house cool down then the furnace warms the air back up, that is only part of the picture. The air then has to warm up the structure and all of the contents. So your expectations are a bit out of focus.
A heat pump should provide better economics. A ground source unit would be better, but a lot more cost if feasible at all.

An dual fuel oil and air source heat pump may be your best option.
Heat pump performance and benefits really has a lot do do with your climate, gas-oil costs and costs per KWH.
