I recently purchased a Kuerig machine because I have never liked coffee but want to be able to have coffee available for guests. I bought a house (my first house!) two months ago and since I'm out in the countryside now I don't want any guests to have to drive for miles to obtain coffee in the morning. I plan to get a couple of refillable coffee cartridges for it so that they can provide their preferred beans along with them or choose from the variety pack that came with the machine.
After some research, I discovered that there were two ranges of kuerig models- consumer and commercial. Apparently, the consumer models are engineered to be quiet, which compromises their longevity. The commercial models have a more robust pump, which is somewhat louder. This is not an issue for me due to its extremely occasional use. It doesn't seem louder than most other coffee-makers out there, but each to his own.
So I got the smallest commercial model for around 120 bucks. It is supposed to be durable, and is designed so that I can drain all of the water out of it for storage. I haven't even tried it out yet and I've had it for 2 weeks now. Hopefully it will be the first and last coffee machine I ever buy.
