I've tried just about every method out there. I've rarely ever had a drip coffee that's any good, but I've never owned a drip coffee maker myself so that may have had more to do with the coffee beans or water that I had no control over. French press coffee is very good, however it's somewhat of a pain to make and it doesn't keep well. If you're the type like I am who likes to have coffee leftovers later (or simply to have more than the meager 750ml or so you can get out of the thing), then this isn't the best. Turkish coffee is great for a change once in a while, but it's labour intensive, as is Vietnamese coffee and espresso. I've found an electric percolator to be the best all-round method for daily use. You get a full flavoured coffee, you can brew a lot at a time, and unlike a french press the grounds don't stay in the coffee and it stays hot. Whatever the method, by far the most important thing is to spend the extra 15 seconds to grind whole beans. Pre-ground coffee will be oxidised shortly after opening the package, and of poor flavour.

In my opinion, the spread of the k-cup style coffee is the death knell for our species on earth. With the amount of material waste they create for one cup of coffee, and the astronomical costs for mediocre coffee, it boggles my mind that so many people would buy these things.
