There are many typos in your message so I apologize if I misinterpret. Anyway, there are 2 things here to recognize:
1) Before claiming commonality of failure mode, you need to look at engineering drawings. My understanding (and I could be wrong) is that the ignition switch used in Cobalt (and a gazillion other GM vehicles) is not the same as the ignition switch used in the 9-5. Also, where they are mounted differently, the typical forces endured are different. If this is true, a problem with the 9-5 switch is not logically connectable with the Cobalt problems and completely independent of the GM lawsuit.
2) If your car stalls (for whatever reason), if you have an automatic, bump the shifter to N (don't even need to depress the button to do this!) and turn the key. You should be able to do this while driving in heavy traffic. When I took driver's ed, my instructor would randomly turn off the key (in a safe situation) while I was driving to teach this. A good thing to practice!
There was a teen killed in my area due to a head on collision caused by his inability to recover from his Saturn turning off (the same faulty ignition switch).
Finally, the 9-5 does have a well known and documented ignition problem: it loves to stay on!! The pop up sometimes gets sticky and it is then hard to get the car's electronics to turn off. Mine has definitely done this! Easy to fix.
