I saw the headline yesterday Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Thu, 6 Jul 2017 03:15:47 In Reply to: Volvo Ending Internal Combustion Engine-Only Automobiles by 2019, DnstrDan [Profile/Gallery] , Wed, 5 Jul 2017 21:13:29 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I read the linked article this morning and the proclamation isn't quite as drastic as the headline implies. Beginning in 2019 all Volvos will include an electric motor, but that doesn't mean they are 100% electric powered. Hybrids will have both electric and internal combustion power.
It does make me wonder a bit about making Volvo our sole vehicle of choice when the first of our current Saabs needs to be replaced at some future date. Will the benefits of a Hybrid outweigh its added complexity? When I was looking for the capability to add a spare tire to a new Volvo, IIRC the Hybrid option completely removes the spare tire/storage well beneath the trunk floor.
