You could actually be friendly with them. I wouldn't want to be
one. Their job is to outpresent each other. They probably don't
enjoy being dressed up shiney and all. Perhaps being nice
and talkative you might be able to work a deal for a friend on a
car if you're not in the market for one. (I know I'm NOT in the
market for a new car) Or they might alert you on a cool tradein
or something before someone else gets it. Or a good deal on some
wheel takeoffs on someone elses new car.
Up in here in Maine, it's New England you know, the Saab dealerships
don't have to be that shiney and professional and cliche'd. Lots
of people have Saabs and get new and used Saabs frequently. People
don't need much convincing if they are considering a Saab, it's a
pretty safe choice for a car.
At the dealership I go to (Stetson's), the parts dept is a different
entrance than the sales dept. Even in the sales area, you won't get
pestered or watched more than necessary. Another dealership I've been
to is Cold Brook. Their parts department is down a hallways right next
to the main door, sort of like the bathroom at Mcdonalds. You can
go inside and go straight to the parts area without dealing with
the sales portion of the dealership.
