I saw your article in the Australian National Club Mag. Nicely done. Seemed like they might have cut some at the end (and they said you have a 96 900 instead of a 92 900)
My brother's ex-wife had a Jetta GLI, which was a blast to drive. Before that, she had a GTI, which was cool, too. They are certainlly not as comfortable as the Saab (at least the old VWs aren't) but they are FUN to drive! I used to work at a dealership that sold both Saabs and VWs. I drove the VR6s, Corrados, TDIs, etc... and drove Aeros, and NG 900s out the ying yang. I'd take the Saab anyday; the price tag makes a big difference, though. VWs are great cars, and you are correct that their marketing is excellent. They have been targeting what they call "alternative" lifestyles lately, such as same-sex relationships. That stigma also sticks with Saab; funny how these things always seem to run together.
