I would get it cleared up and then I would drop them. I have pristine credit as well and when these companies do this crap it is unforgivable. I had a Household credit card that I got when I was in College in 1988. I held balances on it until about 2 years out of college and then (as well as every other credit card I have) I pay it off every month. Over the course of time they kept giving me more and more credit. I stopped using the card much when I got my AAdvantage card, but kept the card since I had it forever and had a huge line of credit on the card (In case of an emergency). One day in 1999 out of the blue I got a letter from them stating my credit line was reduced to $250 because of my credit rating - I nearly shit in my pants thinking some bastard had destroyed my credit. I called them up and the only thing the lady could find was one instance in 1994 where I was 30 days late when I had a $700 balance. This was the only blemish I had ever had on my credit and it was with this card. I was late on the payment because I was working in France for over a month and didn't get the bill until I got back. They said that this made me a high credit risk. I laughed and told them to fix it. 2 days later I got a call saying my full credit line was restored. I told that lady to cancel my account and I was done with them -- I was still burned up that they scared the crap out of me and put a small blemish on my credit report for no real reason.

Anyway...not Discover Financial, but similar problem. I personally think the Discover card is a waste -- better off concentrating on one thing like airline miles and really racking it up. My AAdvantage card is the only card I own and use -- still pay it off each month;)

Good luck.
