What suggestions are you asking for?
Clean the entire area with a baking soda and water solution. When it stops fizzing, the acid residue is gone. Brush the paint surface vigorously to be sure there is no unseen damage underneath. If the paint comes off, be sure to remove all the loose paint and rust, and prep the surface, then paint it with an acid resistant paint.
I would replace the heat shield and paint it with a high temp engine enamel before installing it.
If the hold down hardware is corroded badly, replace it. Ditto for the cables. If you don't replace these parts, be sure to clean them with that baking soda solution.
Purchase a sealed, maintenance free battery (an Optima or similar would be even better) and then you can pretty much forget about corrosion problems. You will still need to keep the battery clean to prevent stray currents from discharging it during storage. If you don't want to invest in a better battery, use those silly little colored felt washers under the terminals to keep the corrosion in control, and rinse the battery monthly. Griot's Garage sells a Battery Matt that sits under the battery to neutralize any spilled acid.
