BMW 3-Series--particularly 325xi Sport Wagon. Great seats. Seems like a lot of car for the money considering the one on the floor was only about $32k with some options that I definitely don't need. And this car scored best in class for IIHS crash testing.
Volkswagen Passat--Seemed like a lot of car for the money. Nicely appointed with a high quality feel to the interior. Roomy interior.
Infiniti G35--not available until March but it looks very impressive. It's based on the new Nissan Z which is based on the Japanese market Skyline so it has a nice performance heritage. I'll drive one in a few months. I've owned 3 Infiniti's and the experience was very good.
Toyota Camry--I've never owned one or even sat in one before Saturday but it's easy to see why it's the best-selling car in America. Great value. Lots of content in a car that's thousands of dollars less than a 9-5.
Nissan Altima--Wow, it's a lot of car for a great price. I'd really be interested in driving the 240hp version. I really wasn't expecting much so I found it very impressive.
Nissan Maxima--I hated the looks of it when it first came out but it has grown on me. Plus you can get it with 260hp and a six-speed. Again, it seems like a pretty decent value. There will probably be deals to be had because the Altima will steal so many sales from the Maxima.
Subaru Outback VDC--Much better than I thought it would be. I was expecting a lower level of interior quality. My wife liked it quite a bit also. Plus it's hard to beat awd. And I can get it at dealer invoice.
Subaru Impreza WRX--It will probably replace my Viggen at the end of this year. I test drove one not too long ago and I was quite impressed. Biggest difference between the Viggen and the WRX--chassis rigidity. The WRX feels like it's made out of a billet of material compared to the 9-3. Similar performance for $10,000 less and all wheel drive to boot. I can also get this car at dealer invoice.
Biggest disappointment--Audi A4. That car is just WAY too small.
The "new" 9-5 just isn't much of an improvement over my current 9-5 to get me excited. They made improvements to things that I thought were already fine.
So, feel free to critique. Your mileage and your opinions may vary.
