I know you don't want to hear it, but if you're in the maket for a notebook, there is absolutely no reason why you can't stop at your local Apple Store (or if you have to, CompUSA ) and check out the amazing technology that Apple has to offer. I just bought an 800-MHz Titanium PowerBook G4 from Apple. It is without a doubt the most incredible machine I have ever seen or experienced. I've owned both PCs (Compaq Presario, Packard Bell 102B or something) and Macs (Original Macintosh, iMac, Power Mac G3, PowerBook G4), and there is no doubt in my mind that these computers are the way to go. The only thing that stops most people from getting a Macintosh is fear - fear of incompatibilty, weirdness factor, whatever. So yes, do check out the Apple website (below), and check out the Apple Store as well. I think a brand new 700-MHz iBook would blow you away, and the new 800-Mhz PowerBook G4 even moreso. Seriously.
