Hi,
I didn't even consider greater loss of energy due to friction in
changing direction of motion. I learn something new every time I check
this BB :-). Does this mean that rotary engine proponents (Mazda) can
claim efficiency as a selling point for RWD vehicles with rotary engine as
opposed to RWD vechicles with conventional engines? With conventional
engines and RWD, up-down motion has to be turned into rotational motion.
With rotary engine, rotational motion is generated by the engine itself.
Is there an efficiency gain in this regard for rotary engine? Is it
enough to compensate for inefficiency of rotary engine due to low
compression ratio?
thanks
Jae
