I know it's just fantasy at this point, given Saab USA's new CEO's statements about Saab eventually having two SUVs, including a large one (ugh, Swedish Escalade?):

Saab should market itself as the anti-SUV. Here's an ad idea. Two neighborhood families load up their cars with their kids and head off to a TV store. One family has the 9-5 Aero wagon, the other a generic SUV. They both arrive at the TV store, pick out a TV, and load it into their respective cars (i.e., showing Saab wagon's cargo capacity), with the 9-5 cargo tracks making loading easy but the SUV family struggling. 9-5 family uses the cargo track tiedowns to secure the TV, SUV family doesn't have that option.

Kid in the SUV leans out the window to the kid in the Saab and says "Race you!" So, the two Dads and Moms stuff their kids into their cars and race off back to their adjoining homes. They go over a bumpy stretch, which the Aero handles smoothly while the occupants of the SUV are jarred up and down. They go through a winding road, which the Aeroa handles smoothly, with the TV in the cargo area strapped down while the family in the SUV sways form side to side (looking like they're going to puke). Then on an open stretch of road, the SUV pulls close, and the 9-5 driver responds by flooring it and the 9-5 leaves the SUV in the dust.

Cut to the homes, where 9-5 family arrives happy and excited; SUV family arrives tired, bruised, nauseous, and with a dented/busted TV from sliding around so much.

The whole time, as different features are highlighted by the pictures, captions come into the screen describing the features on the 9-5 (cargo tracks, tiedowns, suspension, cornering, 250hp turbo).

"Who needs an SUV? The Saab 9-5 Sportwagon"

Well? Whaddaya think?
