Background: Currently drive a 2002 9-5 aero 5 speed and used to own a Viggen Coupe. I love the lines of a classic 900 and the 99 turbo is one of my favorite models. I have a 2 year old son and one baby coming this week.
That said I need something the size of the 9-5 so thats what I will focus on. Personally I liked the old 9000 with a hatch. it was very unique. so...
1) I would love a hatch 9-5
2) AWD!!!
3) A powerful V6 hpt with 300+ hp stock matted to a 6 speed manual
4) Per #3 a 6 speed manual
5) Hirsch or Abbott enhancements covered under warranty
6) Viggen brakes on the 9-5
7) 18" stock rim option for 9-5
8) Recarro seats or Viggen seats (the aero is close, but not close enough)
9) A full size spare
10) Better dash materials - I really admire an Audi interior.
11) A good navigation system option
12) 6 disc in dash changer (I think they have this now)
13) Dual color seats like in the Lightening Blue Viggen
I would also be tempted if they introduce a 9-3 coupe hatchback. I loved my Viggen coupe. I regret selling it to this day. I am sad that I don't have the option going forward. The sonnet concept car would work;)
So not too demanding. All in all I love my Saab and will remain loyal. The only other car I would consider driving over my aero is a BMW 540i or a 740.
Another good idea for Saab would be to go retro. I admire Ford for doing it with the t-bird and mustang. My wife loves the t-bird hardtop. I wouldn't pay that much for a Ford, but it looks good. A retro car around the look of the sonnet, 99, or C900 would be awesome. I really think GM should have done it with the Camaro rather than letting it die -- one based off a 68 Camaro would sell like hotcakes.
Oh well. Those are my thoughts. Should be an interesting topic.
