As I get older, I still really want one, just like I did when I was 18. Whenever I drive one, I think, geez, I gotta get me one of these! There is just something about the feel of these cars on the road. I really understand the passion! And when I think of what to get, even if my daily driver was my 9K or even a pickup truck, and I keep coming back to a Porsche.
I can find a way to buy a used Porsche, but it's the unknowns with this brand that are the gotchas. It's not that they are unreliable, but they can have some REALLY pricey repairs.
The more you DIY the better, but from what I can tell, Porsches require some special tools and a higher skill level than a Saab. Not a ton, you do have to have your "stuff" all in one bag. I figure I'm up to it, but it couldn't be my only car!
As the old saying goes, "You pays your money and you takes your chances!"
Or as Porsche has put it: "There is no substitute."
